I downloaded the latest Netbeans release last night. I've always like Netbeans better than Eclipse and now my major complaint with Netbeans has been solved. This thing starts up fast! The first time is came up I expected some delay since it had just been installed but it was up and running in about 6 seconds. This is easily a 4x improvement over the 6.0 version.
They are also sponsoring a blogging contest (so I'm doing this because I use Netbeans and because I'm an easy victim for a free shot at a prize ;-)
I'm still checking out the MySQL features included but I was very impressed with the improved startup speed and sine I don't look to my IDE for database management my expectations are not high.
If you are using Netbeans definitely give this new version a try. The startup speed alone is worth the upgrade.

Spotlight Eating Up The Processor
Noticed the other date that mds and mdworker processes were eating up my processor. Reboots didn't seem to have any effect. Turns out that Spotlight is hung up on something. Not sure if it was related to the Leopard upgrade or to something else.
I went into preferences and removed the primary hard drive from being indexed. Then rebooted and added that primary hard drive back to being indexed. Once that was complete these spotlight processes began to behave normally. Of course this recreated the index but considering that they don't eat up all my processor now I'm happy with that outcome. Reminds me of the same problems the MS Windows indexer used to sometimes have.
