Last night I took time to watch my new XBOX 360 HD-DVD. Honestly I can say I am not that impressed. The product itself is fine and operates great. However, the enhanced resolution of HD-DVD isn’t all that spectacular.
I have the King Kong DVD and the HD version that came with the drive. I had both DVDs running so that I could switch back and forth between the two. While there is more detail on the HD-DVD it really doesn’t add to the movie experience at all. I just cannot see where this is worth any extra money. If HD-DVDs are the same price as regular I’d buy them but with the drive being more expensive I cannot see where this would be worth the extra investment. I thought something like Star Wars might benefit but I haven’t seen an HD-DVD version of that available.
Basically I’m disappointed. I expected to be really awed by the better resolution but it just wasn’t that much better. And before anyone comments I have the XBOX 360 set to 1080.
