I’ve seen a lot of posts about the MacBook Air and the features etc. Most recently my friend Shawn Morton had a post referencing a review by someone claiming the MacBook Air is a game changer. Really? A game changer is the most out of whack hype I’ve seen. This is a small and thin laptop that lacks the power of the bigger brother MacBook Pro. And a 15 inch MacBook Pro isn’t all that much bigger and weighs in at only 2.4 pounds more.
Check out this sizer visualization of a Pro and Air with a soft drink can to give you some idea.
Not that much smaller so you give up a drive, ethernet port, disk space, processor power, and graphic power for a small gain in size. My issue is that you have always been able to get a smaller laptop and give up these things. The MacBook Air is the same story. Apple has great design and it is a nice computer but once again this is no game changer. Just an option for those that might want a smaller laptop and don’t mind giving up power, options and screen size.
